Is a "thread" a topic within a forum? Please verify.

Forums like this have a language of their own, but it's a common language and experience that can benefit you in other communities when you understand it.

A thread is a series of posts all generally related to the original subject line. There can be a reply, and then a reply to a reply, and another reply to that, and on and on. If you follow the "thread" you could be taken in many different directions.

Sometimes the thread gets quite long and may move away from the original topic. Potentially a leg of the thread may even become more of an important discussion than the original subject. In that case, a moderator may choose to move a section of the thread to its own thread or even to a different forum to make it more valuable for the users. Yes, you are completely right, this is a thread. -Ron
