Hello folks. I'm the webmaster here for Protected Tomorrows. The site is an ever-growing, work-in-progress. I'm interested in hearing what you think about the Protected Tomorrows site, especially if you have any ideas about how to make it better. Don't be shy, reply. Thanks for visiting. -Ron

I think it would be a good idea to add new forums for special topics. Like we could have one for special education. If you feel there would be enough activity for a topic, especially if you would like to jump in and lead, feel free to send me a private message* or add your thoughts here as a reply. I would be very happy to set up the new forum if there is enough interest.

*Speaking of "messages" - Did you know that you can send a private message to any user here in the Protected Tomorrow Community? It's really pretty neat and very simple. Select MESSAGES from the top menu, fill in the blanks, and press the Send Message button. Presto, you just made a new friend.

I like that idea of seperate topic areas. Definitely let's add one for Special Education.

Hello, Webmaster Ron!
Just wanted to let you know that I had quite a time signing in! I changed my password when I first joined PT On-line, but today I had to use the old password to get into community forum. A programming glitch, maybe? Shocked

No, not a programming glitch. This forum is a completely different animal than the PT online stages. If you change your password in one, it is not changed automatically in the other. You must change them both, if you want them both to be the same. It's not necessary that they be the same. This is also true for the Protected Tomorrows Store. It runs independently of the community forum and the stages. The reason behind all this is that not everyone will always utilize the same services, and more importantly, for security reasons. I'm sure this won't be changing anytime soon. I'm a firm believer in as much security as we can get. Just remember that changing your password in one system, does not change it in another.

Thanks Ron. Another question: I have lost my internet connection twice today while in the forum and was, therefore, unable to "log out." Does that affect my security? What should I do if this happens again? Shocked

Hi Mary Anne,

First, I wanted to tell you how much I like the Protected Tomorrows On-line Program; this is just what I needed to keep me organized and on track with making life plans for my disabled child. The process can be overwhelming, but this really helps break it down into manageable sections.

Secondly, I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your book, "The Gift I Was Given." It is such a sincere and heart-felt look into your life's journey. It made me reflect on so many things in my own family that--for so long--I thought were just "normal." It's a very uplifting "take" on life for those of us with special challenges in our families. Great book!

I am very excited to be a part of this community forum. I look forward to the information (and support) I can find here to help me navigate life with a disabled child.

Is this the correct forum for me to post general questions about my family member with a disability?

The major reason you want to log out of all applications is that if someone would get into your computer there, they could get into your application without having to know the password. Maybe no one has access to your computer besides yourself, then you shouldn' be concerned, other than if someone would hack into it. It's best always to log out. If your computer or browser crashes while logged in, like you said, it's very best that you go back to the application, log in and then log out again. It's just good practice in case someone happens by your computer and gets curious.
